Feeding a family on a camping trip can seem like a daunting task, but with a little planning, it doesn’t have to be a chore. The trick is to plan meals that are simple, require minimal ingredients, and are easy to prepare and clean up.

Start each day with a hearty breakfast. Pre-cracked eggs and pre-cooked bacon or sausage can be quickly heated on a portable stove or over the fire. For lunch, consider classic sandwiches or hot dogs over the campfire. Pre-made salads like pasta salad or coleslaw can add a refreshing crunch.

Dinner is the perfect time for campfire foil packet meals. These easy, customizable meals allow each family member to choose their ingredients (meat, veggies, seasonings), and then simply cook their packets on the campfire coals.

Another favorite is roasting hotdogs over the campfire. Just use marshmallow skewers and let the kids heat them up.

Of course, no camping trip is complete without s’mores. Roasting marshmallows over the campfire and sandwiching them between graham crackers with a piece of chocolate is a fun activity that kids and adults alike will love.
